SpectraLog Privacy Policy

Effective July 9, 2026

SpectraLog is built so that we never see your data at all. This policy is short because there is almost nothing to disclose.

What we collect

Nothing. SpectraLog has no accounts, no sign-up, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking, and no third-party SDKs. We do not operate any server that receives your data.

Where your data lives

Your cases, timeline entries, and evidence (photos and audio clips) are stored on your device. If you turn on the optional iCloud sync (a Pro feature), your data is also stored in your personal, private iCloud database, encrypted by Apple. We have no access to it, and no sign-in to SpectraLog itself is required.

Location and weather

With your permission, SpectraLog uses your device's location, once per case, to record where you investigated and to fetch the current weather conditions from Apple's WeatherKit. This happens on your device; the location is never transmitted to us. Denying location, or having none available, simply skips the auto-stamp, and you can enter conditions by hand instead. SpectraLog does not use your location for any other purpose and does not track your location in the background.

Photos, microphone, and files

SpectraLog does not use the camera or microphone. Photos you choose to attach come from your photo library via Apple's standard picker; audio clips and CSV files you choose to import come from the Files app. Nothing you attach or import ever leaves your device (or your own private iCloud, if you opt in).

Purchases

The optional one-time SpectraLog Pro purchase is processed entirely by Apple through your App Store account. We receive no payment details. Because it is a one-time purchase, there is nothing to cancel.

Your control

You can export any case as a CSV or a PDF report at any time, and erase everything by deleting the app (and removing SpectraLog data from iCloud in iOS Settings, if you had sync turned on).
